Fairview is looking for a Nursing Assistant to join our St. John’s Hospital team in Maplewood, MN. This 48 hours per two weeks position is on the Night shift, for 8 hour shifts, every other weekend.

You will work on a cardiovascular unit, performing vital signs, documentation, and patient care under RN supervision; joining a dedicated interprofessional team. Fairview offers a comprehensive benefits package within a caring hospital system.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required or obtainable after program start.
• Six months of direct care experience in long-term or acute care settings.
• Current Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry certification at hire or eligible for transfer.

Job Overview

Fairview is looking for a Nursing Assistant to join our St. John’s Hospital team in Maplewood, MN. This position is 48 hours per two weeks on the Night shift, for 8 hour shifts, every other weekend. About This Unit

Looking for an opportunity to gain experience on a cardiovascular unit? This is a 33 bed Heart Care unit with rapid turnaround for patients that stay on average for 2.5 days. Our typical patient population consists of patients with observable chest pain, ruling out anything cardiac related, stroke patients, and alcohol withdrawal. We prepare and recover our patients for stress tests, echocardiograms, and cardiac procedures including diagnostic angiograms/stent placement, ablations, pacemakers and ICD insertions, and open heart surgery. Our unit cares for many patients with heart failure and cardiac arrythmias needing IV drips. A member of the interdependent team led by a designated RN, is accountable to perform patient care duties and activities for a group of patients. Performs such care as vital sign checks, bladder scanning, blood sugar testing, documentation of cares provided. Reports patient care data and progress of outcomes to designated RN.

• Demonstrates dedication to the universal guiding principles of the patient care model in order to achieve the Fairview Nursing vision.
• Supports the Nursing Process to achieve outcome focused patient care. Supports comprehensive nursing theory based on Watson's theory of caring aligning with the practice standards of the American Holistic Nurses' Association and the nursing care model (Professional Partnership Model) to acquire the Nursing vision.
• Communicates accurately and efficiently with patient/family and health care team members. Reinforces patient education as advised by clinical staff.
• Documents patient information in EHR and/or other electronic system in accordance with program standards, department policies/procedures.
• Maintains knowledge of, and follows all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
• Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification. Ontrack participants much be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program. and
• Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program. or
• Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician) or
• Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program or
• Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position.
