Job summary

Essentia Health is seeking a casual patient-care assistant to provide direct care under supervision. Duties include personal hygiene, nutrition support, comfort care, safe patient transfers, vital signs, and diligent recordkeeping to support patient safety and healing.

Qualifications

• Must meet ONE of the following requirements: 6 months of patient care experience
• Completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program
• Verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program
• Current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry

Responsibilities

• Provide personal hygiene care to patients.
• Assist with nutritional needs and meal support.
• Provide comfort care and other patient assistance.
• Safely transfer patients between beds, chairs, and gurneys.
• Take vital signs and complete accurate recordkeeping.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly report to the RN.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment to promote healing.

Job Description:

Responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving the needs of patients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health. Duties will vary by patient care unit/department and include but are not limited to: Providing personal hygiene care, assisting with nutritional needs, providing comfort care and other assistance, appropriately and safely transferring patients, taking vital signs and completing recordkeeping, recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN, and maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process. Works within job scope to meet the requirements of the Joint Commission and other applicable federal, state and local regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Education Qualifications:

Must meet ONE of the following requirements:
