Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Nursing Assistant to support the Acute Hospital Clinical Service. The NA will assist licensed staff in care for Veterans across preventative, acute, sub-acute, chronic, maintenance, and hospice settings.

This is a temporary, not-to-exceed 1 year, intermittent position. Applicants may be referred during credential checks and must meet English proficiency and basic requirements as outlined in VA standards.

Qualifications

• Six months of general experience or equivalent education.
• Completion of healthcare-related coursework is acceptable.
• Ability to perform nursing tasks under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care for Veterans within nursing care plans.
• Document care provided and patient observations accurately.
• Monitor intake/output and respond to changes with nursing staff.
• Initiate and assist with basic life support when needed.
• Mentor and assist other Nursing Assistants as directed.
