Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Nursing Assistant to assist licensed staff in providing care to veterans across preventive, acute, sub-acute, chronic, maintenance, and hospice settings. The role supports Shared Governance councils and uses evidence-based practice to improve care quality for our veterans.

Applicants may be referred while still meeting education or licensure requirements and must meet all basic VA qualifications to be hired. The full performance level is GS-5.

Qualifications

• United States Citizenship is required.
• Six months of general experience demonstrating ability to acquire NA skills.
• One year of education above high school with related courses.
• Completion of intensive occupation-related NA training/course less than one year may meet experience.
• English proficiency as per VA standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed nursing staff in patient care across preventive, acute, sub-acute, chronic, maintenance and hospice settings.
• Participate in unit-based or organizational Shared Governance councils.
• Utilize clinical knowledge and evidence-based practice to help improve quality of care for veterans.
• Ensure adherence to safety and documentation standards while supporting nursing teams.
