Job summary

Western New York VA Healthcare System is seeking a Nursing Assistant to join the Acute Care (9D) Team at the Buffalo VA Medical Center. The NA will assist licensed staff in preventive, acute, sub-acute, maintenance, and hospice care, with potential referral if education/certification is incomplete.

Qualifications

• Six months of general experience or one year above high school with related nursing care courses.
• Or completion of an intensive, specialized program leading to nursing assistant certification.
• May qualify under Grandfathering Provision for current VA employees.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed nursing staff in caring for patients/residents across the care spectrum.
• Contribute to the nurse care plan and support patient/resident recovery.
• Observe and report patient/resident conditions to supervisors promptly.
• Use basic diagnostic and treatment equipment safely and effectively.
