Job summary

MedVet in Cincinnati is seeking a Nursing Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-growing emergency and specialty team. The proposed schedule is Thursdays and Fridays from 7a–7:30p and every other Saturday and Sunday from 7a–7:30p (full-time).

You will supervise patient care, assist DVM with assessments and procedures, draw blood, place IV catheters, and educate clients on home care and medications. Prior veterinary experience is preferred; we offer strong benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required.
• Nursing or critical care experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations related to medications and treatments.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

We are looking for:

Nursing Veterinary Assistant

Never a dull moment in the Nursing department! Our patients need constant supervision to ensure treatment plans are being executed. This department is perfect for someone who canidentifypatient distress and react accordingly, enjoys phlebotomy, placing IV catheters,assistingwith recovery and client follow up and education.

Whatyou’lldo:

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discusscasesand gatheradditionalinformation as necessary

Who you are:

• Prior veterinary experiencerequired,previousnursing or critical care experience desired


• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)


• Flexibility with work hours and able to workadditionalhours when necessary


• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
