Job summary

Corewell Health's Wayne Hospital is seeking a CNA to support the Progressive Care Unit on a full-time day shift (7 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.), 36 hours per week, with every other weekend. You will assist licensed nurses with direct patient care and help maintain a safe, clean unit.

Qualified candidates have a High School Diploma or equivalent, BLS, and a CNA certification (preferred). Experience in a hospital or nursing home is helpful. The unit offers a supportive team and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
  • BLS certification required by completion of Orientation.
  • Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
  • Current CNA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist licensed nursing staff in direct patient care and unit maintenance.
  • Maintain an orderly unit environment with supplies and equipment to support patient care.
  • Contribute to effective communication related to patient care and unit operations.
  • Facilitate admissions, discharges and transfers in accordance with policies.

About This Unit

IMC is a high-energy unit that promotes a positive culture and work environment with flexible scheduling; we strive to maintain a competitive nurse to patient ratio. Nurses on this unit are teamwork oriented and have excellent support staff which include nursing assistants, telemetry technicians and unit secretaries. We care for a diverse patient population including, but not limited to, respiratory, cardiac, and neuro illnesses. It is common to have patients on cardiac drips, cardiac catheterization patients and COPD/pneumonia/CHF patients. IMC staff meet once a month for unit council to address staff concerns and serve as a voice for the unit. Unit council also plans activities which include unit outings, in house activities and volunteer opportunities.

Scope of work

Assists licensed nursing staff in providing direct patient care and helps in the environmental maintenance of the nursing unit under the direction of the Registered Nurse and within the scope of defined practice. Provides for personal care and safety needs of patients promptly under the supervision of licensed nursing staff including specific procedures and patient testing addressed in the patient plan of care. Maintains an orderly unit environment with sufficient supplies and equipment in order to facilitate staff performance of patient care. Contributes to effective communication as it related to the provision of patient care and the efficient operation needs of the unit. Facilitates the admission, discharge and transfer of patients on and off unit in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Range of Pay
  • Range of pay between $17.74 and $21.72, based on experience.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, Required
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), Required by completion of Orientation
  • Previous hospital or nursing home experience, Preferred
  • Current CNA certification, Preferred
