Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Nurse Aide at Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, NJ. This per‑diem evening role supports a busy nursing team by assisting with vital signs, personal care, mobility, and documentation in the EHR.

You will collaborate with RNs to monitor patient conditions and uphold safety and compassion at the bedside. You must have a High School Diploma or GED and a current BLS; prior NA or clinical nursing program experience is preferred, with a CNA certificate favorable.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Previous nursing assistant experience or clinical nursing program experience preferred.
• CNA certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living and provide nursing care including vital signs and bedside care.
• Monitor vital signs and document in the EHR system with confidentiality.
• Support RNs in care plans and collaborate with care team.
• Apply infection control protocols to maintain a safe environment.
• Communicate with patients, families, and providers to coordinate care.
• Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) during emergencies when needed.
• Deliver patient care appropriate to patient age and needs.

You'll assist with daily needs such as vital signs, mobility, and personal care, while helping RNs monitor conditions and carry out care plans. Your attention, empathy, and teamwork help restore comfort and dignity for every patient you serve and make our mission to improve lives a reality each day.

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing nursing care to patients including taking vital signs, EKGS, performing phlebotomy, assisting with bedside care, i.e. bathing, mouth care, skin care.
• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track patient health status
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to facility policies
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and address concerns
• Support emergency response efforts by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills such as CPR when needed in acute situations
• Providing patient care, based on physical, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients
• Providing for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions
• Ongoing communication with patients and nursing colleagues regarding status of patient’s care
• Participating in collaboration of our patient’s plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning

To be considered for this NA opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma / GED and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. Previous nursing assistant experience or clinical experience from an accredited nursing program is preferred or a CNA certificate.
