RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant II for the Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ. The role supports the Medical-Surgical Unit with hands-on care, vital signs, and patient comfort, working a full-time night shift with every other weekend and some holidays.

Required is a High School Diploma or GED and an active American Heart Association BLS. CNA certification is preferred, with prior NA experience beneficial to integrate into our collaborative nursing team.

You'll assist with daily needs such as vital signs, mobility, and personal care, while helping RNs monitor conditions and carry out care plans. Nursing Assistant (NA) - RWJBarnabas Health

Typical Day May Include

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing nursing care to patients including taking vital signs, EKGS, performing phlebotomy, assisting with bedside care, i.e. bathing, mouth care, skin care.
• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track patient health status
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to facility policies
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and address concerns
• Support emergency response efforts by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills such as CPR when needed in acute situations
• Providing patient care, based on physical, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients
• Providing for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions
• Ongoing communication with patients and nursing colleagues regarding status of patient’s care
• Participating in collaboration of our patient’s plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning

To be considered for this NA opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma / GED and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. Previous nursing assistant experience or clinical experience from an accredited nursing program is preferred or a CNA certificate. This position offers a Full-Time Night schedule from 11:00pm to 7:00am and includes every other weekend as well as some holidays.
