Berns Greenhouse & Garden Center in Middletown, OH is hiring a Nursery Supervisor to run the Middletown nursery department, overseeing plant material processing, health, pricing, displays and sales, while training nursery staff.

The role requires 3+ years in a supervisory setting, horticulture knowledge, and hands-on experience with nursery operations and POS systems. Expect a dynamic outdoor/indoor environment with physical labor and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in a supervisory role and training other employees.
• Degree or certification in horticulture or a related field is preferred.
• Herbicide/Pesticide license or certification is preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office programs and POS systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily care for living inventory and maintain plant health and quality.
• Plan and direct the nursery setup and displays to meet seasonal needs.
• Monitor and maintain daily inventory control.
• Oversee reordering and delivery of plants and hard goods.
• Evaluate vendor performance and manage vendor relationships to deliver value.
• Supervise and develop nursery department staff; plan staffing needs and training.
• Schedule employee workdays and ensure accurate time records.
• Answer customer questions about tree, shrub, and perennial diseases and pests.
• Operate power equipment such as a Bobcat or forklift as needed.
• Load customers' vehicles when necessary.
