Job summary

gpac is seeking a hands-on Nursery & Horticulture General Manager to oversee daily operations of a busy nursery. You will supervise staff, production planning, and sales support, driving growth while maintaining high plant quality and customer service.

Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates. The role requires leadership, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather. A bachelor's degree in horticulture or related field is preferred.

Qualifications

• 4+ years' greenhouse, nursery, or garden center managerial experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in horticulture and/or business.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of federal/state Dept. of Agriculture regulations.
• Ability to coach and train a sales team.
• Willingness to relocate.
• Must reside in the U.S. and have a valid U.S. driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily nursery and horticulture operations.
• Hire associates, production and greenhouse labor, sales team, and office staff.
• Lead, train, and motivate sales associates to deliver excellent customer service.
• Manage plant inventory: receive, inspect, display, water, and maintain quality.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate restocking with distribution teams.
• Ensure plant care, merchandising, pricing, and signage meet standards.
• Maintain logs and reports on labor, pesticide use, and quality metrics.
• Communicate inventory and staffing updates with district management.
• Follow safety policies to maintain a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the overall nursery and horticulture daily operations.
• Hire associates, production and greenhouse labor, sales team and office support.
• Lead, train, and motivate sales associates to provide outstanding customer service.
• Receive, inspect, display, water, and maintain healthy, high-quality plant inventory.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate restocking with distribution teams.
• Ensure proper plant care, merchandising, pricing, and signage according to company standards.
• Maintain logs, labor reports, pesticide applications, plug grade sheets, disease logs and testing.
• Communicate regularly with district management regarding inventory needs, staffing and operational updates.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures and maintain a safe work environment.

Key Qualifications

• 4+ years' greenhouse, nursery, or garden center managerial experience.
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related horticulture and /or business field.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of rules, regulations, and guidelines of various federal or state Dept. of Agriculture.
• Ability to make sound decisions and exercise judgement and discretion in applying and interpreting rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to coach and train a sales team in building strong relationships with retail partners.
• Comfortable working outside in varying weather conditions.
• Able to work with little or no supervision.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform frequent bending, walking, and standing.
• Must be willing to relocate.
• Must currently reside in the U.S. and have a valid U.S. driving license.
