Job summary

Midwest Health Inc is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide direct nursing care and supervise nursing assistants. You will ensure quality care, comply with regulations, and coordinate with other departments to support residents’ needs.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, maintaining care plans, documenting care, and participating in surveys. This role requires compliance with safety, privacy, and reporting standards in a long-term care setting.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid RN license in good standing with the state.
• CPR certification is required.
• Basic computer skills are required for charting and records.
• Read, write, speak and understand English proficiently.

Responsibilities

• Direct the day-to-day nursing assistants' functions per regulations.
• Ensure staff follow facility policies and plan shifts, services, and activities.
• Coordinate with resident services to maintain the resident's total care plan.
• Ensure staff comply with their job descriptions.
• Participate in surveys and inspections by authorities.
• Review and update discharge plans as required.
• Explain policies to staff, residents, and agencies; administer nursing tasks as needed.
• Take and document vital signs, perform routine lab tasks, admit/transfer/discharge residents.
• Complete medical forms, reports, and progress notes; liaise with physicians.
• Transcribe telephone orders from physicians.
• Document nursing care and resident responses in charts.
• Submit accident/incident reports per policy.
• Monitor staffing needs and report to Nurse Supervisor; assign work accordingly.
• Conduct unit rounds to ensure staff performance.
• Foster good rapport with colleagues; handle complaints; report to Nursing leadership.
• Nurse handover at shift changes is required.
