Job Summary

ETSU Department of Internal Medicine seeks an experienced and motivated Nursing Supervisor to lead the daily clinical operations of our Infectious Diseases Clinic. This is a leadership opportunity for a registered nurse (RN) who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care while supporting a collaborative, multidisciplinary healthcare team.

As the Nursing Supervisor, you will work closely with the Executive Director to oversee the day-to-day functions of the clinic, including coordinating provider schedules, managing laboratory ordering and scheduling, providing clinical triage, monitoring patient flow, administering vaccines, and coordinating prior authorizations.

You will play a key role in ensuring the clinic operates efficiently by maintaining medical supplies and medications, overseeing examination and procedure room readiness, ensuring emergency equipment is properly stocked, and coordinating the maintenance of clinical equipment.

In this leadership position, you will supervise and mentor nursing staff, develop and implement clinical policies and procedures, and foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will also provide education and coaching to staff while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards to maintain the highest level of patient care and confidentiality.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of state institution procedure.
  • Knowledge of the current health sciences and nursing procedures as practiced in generalist medical office setting.
  • Knowledge of health care insurance, including private insurance, Medicare, and TennCare.
  • Knowledge of organizational management and administration.
  • Knowledge of various state, federal, and agency regulations.
  • Knowledge of various patient referral/educational resources.
  • Knowledge of lCD and CPT coding.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to fulfill all the expectations of the RN Scope of Practice.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively within a diverse clinical setting.
  • Ability to analyze, revise, and develop nursing policies and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively supervise staff.
  • Ability to coordinate, analyze, and synthesize data.
  • Ability to present training in a clear, concise manner and evaluate training outcomes.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately, maintain compliance with HIPAA.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and track/report information accurately.
  • Ability to analyze workflow and make adjustments for optimum efficiency.
  • Ability to utilize electronic health records for daily operations and to train others.
  • Ability to standard office software, programs, and equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degreeplusthree (3) years of current RN experience OR
  • Associate degree in Nursing plus five (5) to seven (7) years of progressively responsible RN experience
  • Must possess current Tennessee license as a Registered Nurse

  • Salary MR 8 ($60,017.32 - $65,268.83)
