Job description

The ETSU College of Nursing invites applications for a full-time Center Manager for the Johnson City Community Health Center.

The Johnson City Community Health Center Manager oversees the daily administrative and operational functions of the clinic, ensuring efficient front office functions, effective staff supervision, and exceptional patient service. This position manages office workflows, Center finances, supports electronic health record (EHR) systems, coordinates administrative operations, and ensures compliance with organizational policies and procedures to support high-quality patient care.

The position reports to the Director of Operations and the Clinical Director. It acts as a liaison between the Governing Board and office staff by working with both parties to develop policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of medical office operations, procedures, and patient scheduling processes.
  • Knowledge of electronic health records (EHR), electronic practice management systems, and medical records management.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance processes, and healthcare reimbursement practices.
  • Knowledge of ICD and CPT coding principles.
  • Knowledge of basic bookkeeping, budgeting, and accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of standard computer applications, including Microsoft Office and healthcare information systems.
  • Skill in supervising, training, coaching, and motivating staff to achieve organizational goals.
  • Skill in identifying problems, analyzing information, and implementing effective solutions.
  • Skills in providing exceptional customer service while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication with patients, providers, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Skill in organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating multiple tasks in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Ability to provide effective leadership and foster a collaborative, team-oriented work environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with patients, providers, faculty, staff, and external partners.
  • Ability to interpret and apply organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to analyze workflow processes and recommend improvements to enhances operational efficiency and patient satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Health Services Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, Nursing or a related field.
  • Three (3) or more years of relevant, progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ICD-9 and/or CPT coding experience.
