Job summary

Center For Discovery in Orange, CA is seeking a Nursing Supervisor to report to the Director of Nursing and oversee shifts, ensuring safe, effective care and coordination with medical and clinical teams. You will be responsible for nursing care plans, medication administration, documentation, MARS accuracy, and emergency response while supporting admissions, discharges, and patient advocacy.

The role requires an RN (or LVN/LPN with leadership), strong communication, and the ability to work

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved nursing program with current state licensure.
• RN preferred; LVN/LPN required.
• BSN preferred; ADN accepted.
• One year experience in mental health, substance use, or eating disorders.
• Ability to draw blood.

Responsibilities

• Provides orientation and training to new nursing staff on shift.
• Serves as the shift supervisor for nursing care with the Director of Nursing.
• Develops and initiates the Nursing Care Plan.
• Facilitates therapeutic nursing or health groups.
• Provides clear client documentation.
• Implements Physician Orders.
• Administers medication as prescribed.
• Counts narcotics daily and logs appropriately.
• Performs primary first aid and notifies physician as needed.
• Consults with physician and psychiatrist for interventions.
• Assists with scheduling nursing staff.
• Maintains MARS in electronic medical record system and narcotic logs.
• Communicates with BHT staff and clinical team.
• Assesses medical and psychological issues and reports to leadership.
• Leads staff and delegates responsibilities with the Director of Nursing.
• Completes admissions and discharge protocols appropriately.
• Manages medications per policies; ensure destruction after discharge.
• Promotes restoration of health and patient advocacy.
• Administers TB testing per policies.
• Maintains infection control measures.
• Ensures safety and security of patients, staff, and medications.
• Coordinates emergency medical care for medical/psychiatric emergencies.
• Works with multi-disciplinary team and independently when needed.
• Completes reports on unusual incidents.
• Covers shifts to ensure nursing coverage.
