Job summary

CommonSpirit Health seeks a Nurse Shift Manager for the Medical/Surgical 2 West unit in Stockton, CA. You will oversee a team of frontline nurses, support their development, and drive quality and performance improvements across the department.

You will lead in setting unit goals, handling tough conversations, and ensuring patient-centered care within fiscal constraints. RN licensure in CA and BLS are required for this leadership role.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Nurse Shift Manager in our Medical/Surgical 2 West department, you’ll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. Your previous experience in acute care, LTC, or nursing homes adds tremendous value to our nursing team.

Every day you will advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department’s operational goals and objectives.

To thrive in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You are an excellent communicator in one-to-one interactions and in front of groups. It is also important to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit.

• Collaborates with other area supervisors as required to support the hospital’s role as a community health service provider.
• Assists in implementing a unit Quality Management Program consistent with the hospital-wide Performance Improvement Plan. Operates the unit within the financial and productivity guidelines, setting goals and developing policies that support this objective.
• Provides for quality services by ensuring that the staff are well trained in the services to be provided.
• Addresses, escalates, or resolves unit issues, including problem resolution related to customer complaints, concerns and suggestions.

$5,000 Sign on for eligible new hires with at least 1 year of relevant experience within the last 3-5 years.

Job RequirementsRequired:

• Associate of Science in Nursing
• Two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - American Heart Association

$66.53 - $97.63 /hour
