Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator. Provides oversight of non-RN personnel on the assigned unit.

Responsibilities

• Assess the patient's physical and psychosocial condition throughout care.
• Assess learning needs; provide education to patient and family; document the plan, understanding, and outcomes.
• Assist provider in intra-office procedures; maintain sterile fields; comply with protocols and policies.
• Assess patients in office and over the phone for intervention needs.
• Perform nursing duties: assessments, documentation, vital signs, bladder scan, catheterization, medication administration, POCT.
• Handle and transfer instruments; disinfect equipment; maintain competence in disinfection procedures.
• Verify chart information is accurate and current; perform other duties to ensure department operation.
• Function as preceptor to new staff.
• Serve as charge nurse.
• Meet performance expectations in customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and development.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.

Experience: 2-3 years nursing experience, urology preferred; recent ambulatory/medical office experience preferred; proficient in electronic health records and internet research.

Licensure: Valid Rhode Island RN license; BLS required within one month.

Special Skills: Hospital and unit orientation provided.

Physical Demands: Exposure to bodily fluids; bending; carrying items.
