Job summary

MU Health Care in Columbia, Missouri is seeking a dedicated OR/Recovery nurse to join our surgical team. You will provide direct nursing care before, during and after surgery, with emphasis on assessment, care planning and effective interventions.

Our ideal candidate holds Missouri RN licensure, at least 1 year of RN experience, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered care in a high-quality environment.

Qualifications

  • Missouri Board of Nursing RN or multi-state RN licensure.
  • Minimum of 1 year RN experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for an assigned patient group.
  • Coordinate education for patient, family, and health professionals.
  • Report observations to physicians and nursing leadership and document accurately.
  • Maintain nursing care standards and follow hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and quality/PI activities.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Provide direct care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care to an assigned group of patients.
  • Plan, direct, and/or participate in the education of the patient, family, community, and health professionals.
  • Report pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (i.e. physicians, head nurse, charge nurse, and/or nursing supervisor) and record those observations accurately and concisely.
  • Maintain the standards of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the hospital and assigned nursing department.
  • Participate in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups.
  • Provide quality care to patients and work with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest patient satisfaction.
  • May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.

  • One (1) year of RN experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Participation in a professional nursing organization.

· Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
