Job summary

MU Health Care's University Hospital in Columbia, MO seeks a dedicated OR/Recovery Nurse to join our surgical team. This on-site role requires ICU experience and features a variable-day shift. Base pay is provided per hour, and the department is the Post Anesthesia Care Unit.

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered care across the perioperative continuum, with opportunities for professional growth within MU Health Care.

Qualifications

  • Missouri RN license or multi-state Compact RN.
  • One year RN experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for assigned patients.
  • Educate patients, families, and health professionals.
  • Report observations to physicians, head nurse, charge nurse, or nursing supervisor, and document promptly.
  • Maintain nursing standards and follow hospital policies and department procedures.
  • Participate in meetings, in-services, and quality/performance improvement groups.
  • Participate in nursing research.
  • Provide quality care with a multidisciplinary team to maximize patient satisfaction.
  • Complete unit/department duties as required.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Provide direct care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care to an assigned group of patients.
  • Plan, direct, and/or participate in the education of the patient, family, community, and health professionals.
  • Report pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (i.e. physicians, head nurse, charge nurse, and/or nursing supervisor) and record those observations accurately and concisely.
  • Maintain the standards of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the hospital and assigned nursing department.
  • Participate in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups.
  • Participate in nursing research.
  • Provide quality care to patients and work with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest patient satisfaction.
  • May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
  • One (1) year of RN experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Participation in a professional nursing organization.
  • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
