MU Health Care in Jefferson City, MO is seeking a dedicated RN to join our on-site team in the Pre Op JC department. You will assess patients, lead nursing actions, manage discharge planning, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care.

The position features a Monday–Friday day shift (6am–4:30pm) with rotating days off and mandatory call rotation, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for growth within a leading academic health system.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition and nursing needs, set goals, and prescribe nursing actions including discharge planning.
• Assess, intervene, and reassess pain promptly using appropriate scales.
• Educate patients about medications and report pertinent information to the team.
• Evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and ensure standards of care.
• Participate in meetings, in-services, and quality improvement activities.
• Adhere to attendance, punctuality, and dress code; collaborate with multidisciplinary team.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

• Assesses the patient's condition and nursing needs, sets goals, and prescribes appropriate nursing actions to meet those goals and the physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs of the patient, including discharge planning.
• Assesses, intervenes, and reassesses the patient's self-report/symptoms of pain promptly.
• Utilizes an appropriate tool for assessment and reassessment (0-10 numerical scale, FACES, or the FLACC.)
• Demonstrates an understanding of medications with regards to action and side effects. Reports pertinent information to appropriate individual . Educates patients and significant others about their medications.
• Demonstrates the ability to evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions in accomplishing goals and intended patient care outcomes.
• Maintain the standards of nursing care and implements the policies and procedures of the hospital and assigned nursing unit.
• Participates in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups.
• Full understanding of the attendance and punctuality guidelines, and adhere to the dress code.
• Reports pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (i.e. physicians, head nurse, charge nurse, and/or nursing supervisor) and records those observations accurately and concisely.
• Provides quality care to patients and work with multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest patient satisfaction.
• May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
