Job summary

MU Health Care is seeking a dedicated Nurse, OR/Recovery to join our surgical team at University Hospital in Columbia, MO. This on-site role supports patient-centered care before, during, and after surgery, with emphasis on assessment, planning and timely interventions.

The ideal candidate will hold Missouri RN licensure (or multi-state compact) and at least 1 year of RN experience, thriving in a collaborative perioperative environment focused on safety and compassionate care.

  • Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN.
  • One year of RN experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in OR/Recovery planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Coordinate with education, family, health professionals for care.
  • Report observations to physicians and nursing leadership and document accurately.
  • Maintain nursing standards and hospital policies across the department.
  • Participate in meetings, in-services, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support nursing research and multi-disciplinary teamwork to ensure patient satisfaction.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
  • Provide direct care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care to an assigned group of patients.
  • Plan, direct, and/or participate in the education of the patient, family, community, and health professionals.
  • Report pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person (i.e. physicians, head nurse, charge nurse, and/or nursing supervisor) and record those observations accurately and concisely.
  • Maintain the standards of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the hospital and assigned nursing department.
  • Participate in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups.
  • Participate in nursing research.
  • Provide quality care to patients and work with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest patient satisfaction.
  • May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
  • One (1) year of RN experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Participation in a professional nursing organization.
  • Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
