Day - 10 Hour (United States of America)
Position Overview:

Stanford's Division of Nephrology is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our Outpatient Nephrology/Hypertension (HTN) Clinic team. The providers at Stanford's Division of Nephrology see patients across the bay area for care in general nephrology, as well as for subspecialty needs like kidney transplant, glomerular disease, hypertension, stone, peritoneal and home hemodialysis. This particular APP position is to help grow the HTN Center of Excellence within the nephrology division.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide comprehensive care to patients with nephrology and hypertension needs.
  2. Manage return patients in clinic and via telehealth independently.
  3. Work a 4-day week, 10-hour days, seeing up to 12 patients per day.
  4. Allocate time for indirect patient care after clinic hours.
  5. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care.
Qualifications:
  1. Prior experience in Nephrology, Internal Medicine, or chronic disease management as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) is preferred.
  2. Strong clinical and communication skills.
  3. Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous improvement.

Overview

The Physician Assistant (PA) functions under this Physician Assistant Job Description approved by the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee (IDPC). Specific functions are established by the PA and supervising physician(s), and approved by the appropriate medical and nursing administrators, the IDPC, the Credentials & Privileges Committee, the Stanford Hospital and Clinics (SHC) Medical Executive Committee, and the SHC Board Credentials, Policies and Procedures Committee.

Responsibilities include:
  • Evaluating and treating patients with acute, chronic complaints, and health maintenance concerns related to the specialty.
  • Obtaining complete histories and performing physical exams.
  • Performing or requesting diagnostic studies.
  • Administering medications according to protocols.
  • Ordering and collecting specimens for tests.
  • Ordering therapies and procedures.
  • Performing designated procedures after competency demonstration.
  • Obtaining informed consent.
  • Arranging hospital admissions/discharges.
  • Participating in IRB-approved investigational studies.
  • Assisting in the operating room after training.
  • Performing surgical procedures in the presence of the supervising physician.
  • Recognizing age-specific needs.
  • Communicating effectively with diverse populations.
  • Recognizing situations requiring immediate physician attention.
  • Coordinating inpatient and outpatient care.
  • Ensuring compliance with policies and participating in quality initiatives.
  • Providing patient education and counseling.
Educational Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  2. Graduate of an accredited PA program.
Licenses and Certifications:
  • PA State Licensure.
  • BLS.
  • DEA registration.

Compensation:

Base pay generally starts at $86.41 - $114.50 per hour. Final salary will depend on various factors including experience, education, and training.
