Job summary

Texas Health Plano is seeking a Registered Nurse Practitioner in Neurosurgery to join our Level II Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center. You will work a full-time daytime schedule in Plano, collaborating with fellowship-trained neurosurgeons and neurointerventional specialists to deliver high-quality patient care across neuro trauma, spine, and brain surgery cases.

Requirements include a BSN, MSN/NP, RN license, APN/NP credentials, and relevant neuro experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing program required.
  • Master’s degree from a Nurse Practitioner program required.
  • Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency.
  • 2 years of experience as Nurse Practitioner preferred.
  • Acute Care certification highly preferred.
  • 1 year experience in Neuro preferred.
  • RN license required upon hire.
  • APRN and NP credentials required upon hire.
  • BCLS required prior to independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
  • ACLS within 30 days preferred.
  • Must be credentialed by Medical Staff Services upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains comprehensive health histories and formulates care plans.
  • Performs advanced health assessments to differentiate normal vs abnormal findings.
  • Synthesizes physiology, culture, and socioeconomics to guide therapy.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team to improve continuity of care.
  • Takes action to reduce patient risks.
  • Performs specialty-specific procedures safely and proficiently.
  • Contributes to unit programs and research for quality improvement.
  • Identifies costly processes and implements improvements.

Work hours: Full Time, 40 Hours; 4 10 hour days with rotating weekend coverage

Neuro Department Highlights:

Fellowship trained Neurosurgeons and Neuro Interventional Radiologists

Level II Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center

24 bed ICU and dedicated Neuro unit

Neuro Trauma, Elective Spine, Neuro Interventional Radiology and Brain Surgical cases

Here’s What You Need
  • Bachelor’s Degree Graduate of an accredited nursing program required and
  • Master’s Degree Graduate of Nurse Practitioner program required

Here’s What You Will Do
  • Utilizes principles and skills in communication and interviewing techniques in obtaining a comprehensive health history to formulate a plan of care and make decisions for appropriate therapeutic interventions
  • Uses principles and skills in advanced health assessment for differentiating normal and abnormal findings
  • Synthesizes knowledge of physiology, pathophysiology, culture, and socioeconomics to access, evaluate, and provide therapeutic interventions to patients
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes in order to promote continuity of care
  • Takes action to reduce patients risks
  • Performs specialty specific technical procedures safely and proficiently
  • Demonstrates contribution to unit based programs and research strategies to monitor and continuously improve the quality of patient care
  • Assist in the identification of ineffective and costly processes and take actions to improve those processes
