Job summary

Texas Health Plano seeks a Registered Nurse Practitioner in Neurosurgery to join a team with fellowship-trained neurosurgeons and a level II trauma and comprehensive stroke center. Requires BSN and MSN/NP, Neuro experience preferred, and credentialing upon hire. Full-time, 40 hours over four 10-hour days with rotating weekends.

RN and APRN licensure required at hire; BCLS mandatory; ACLS preferred. Competitive benefits and growth opportunities in a Magnet-designated hospital.

Qualifications

  • BSN from an accredited nursing program.
  • Master’s NP degree required.
  • 2 years NP experience preferred.
  • Neuro experience preferred; Medical Staff Services credentialing required.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain health history and form a care plan with therapeutic interventions.
  • Perform advanced health assessment and differentiate findings.
  • Apply physiology knowledge to evaluate and treat patients.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to improve care.
  • Reduce patient risks and perform neuro-specific procedures safely.
  • Contribute to unit programs and quality improvement efforts.
  • Identify inefficient processes and propose improvements.

Work Hours: Full Time, 40 Hours; 4 10 hour days with rotating weekend coverage

Here’s What You Need
  • Bachelor’s Degree Graduate of an accredited nursing program required
  • Master’s Degree Graduate of Nurse Practitioner program required
  • Other - CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required
  • 2 years of experience as Nurse Practitioner preferred
  • Acute Care certification highly preferred
  • 1 year experience in Neuro preferred
  • RN - Registered Nurse upon hire required
  • APRN - Advanced Practice Nurse upon hire required
  • NP - Nurse Practitioner upon hire required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 30 days preferred
  • Other - Must be credentialed by Medical Staff Services upon hire required
Here’s What You Will Do
  • Utilizes principles and skills in communication and interviewing techniques in obtaining a comprehensive health history to formulate a plan of care and make decisions for appropriate therapeutic interventions
  • Uses principles and skills in advanced health assessment for differentiating normal and abnormal findings
  • Synthesizes knowledge of physiology, pathophysiology, culture, and socioeconomics to access, evaluate, and provide therapeutic interventions to patients
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes in order to promote continuity of care
  • Takes action to reduce patients risks
  • Performs specialty specific technical procedures safely and proficiently
  • Demonstrates contribution to unit based programs and research strategies to monitor and continuously improve the quality of patient care
  • Assist in the identification of ineffective and costly processes and take actions to improve those processes
