Job summary

One GI® is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join a team of gastroenterology professionals in Germantown, TN. The NP will manage routine and urgent follow-up visits, new patient visits, and consults while coordinating with physicians to meet medical needs and ensure high-quality patient care.

The role requires NP certification with prescriptive authority, a nursing background with 3+ years in clinic or hospital settings, and strong interpersonal and billing knowledge to support patient outcomes

Qualifications

• RN license and state NP eligibility.
• Board-certified with prescriptive authority.
• Strong interpersonal skills and billing knowledge.
• NP program completion with national certification.
• Three years nursing experience in clinic or hospital settings.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and urgent follow-up visits in the clinic.
• Conduct new patient visits and consults.
• Coordinate with physicians on patient care needs.
• Order medications, labs, and diagnostics as appropriate.
• Administer meds and injections.
• Educate patients on health prevention and care.

Snapshot of Daily Duties

• Routine follow-up visits in the office.
• Urgent follow-up visits in the office.
• Urgent and provider requested consults and new patient visits.
• G-tube changes.
• Hemorrhoid banding (after training).
• Large volume paracentesis (as permitted).
• Communicate patient care activities to the physician (visit notes/test results).
• Collaborate with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
• Order appropriate medication, laboratory, and diagnostic procedures.
• Administer medications and injections.
• Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention.
• Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation.
• Provide monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
• Perform a physical exam and records findings.

The Must Haves

• Registered Nursing license as well as degree level required by each state to obtain NP license.
• Graduate of an accredited program and board certified with prescriptive authority.
• Strong interpersonal skills are a must, knowledge of billing services is required, understands the various responsibilities physician/NP/Patient relationship.
• Successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program with certification by a national Nurse Practitioner certification board.
• Three (3) years professional nursing experience in a clinic or hospital setting.
