Job summary

Gastro One is seeking an energetic Nurse Practitioner to join our Memphis team and drive patient success in the community. You will provide routine and urgent follow-up visits, order medications and labs, and collaborate with physicians to manage acute and chronic digestive needs.

A registered nursing license, NP certification with prescriptive authority, and 3 years of clinical experience are required. We offer growth opportunities within One GI and a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Registered nursing license and NP certification with prescriptive authority.
• Three years of professional nursing experience in a clinic or hospital.
• Graduate of an accredited NP program and board certification.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; knowledge of billing services.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and urgent follow-up visits in the office.
• Order medications, labs, and diagnostic procedures.
• Administer medications and injections as prescribed.
• Document visit notes and coordinate care with physicians.
• Triage patient calls and provide health guidance.
• Assist with G-tube changes and related procedures.

Snapshot of Daily Duties

• Routine follow-up visits in the office.
• Urgent follow-up visits in the office.
• Urgent and provider requested consults and new patient visits.
• G-tube changes.
• Hemorrhoid banding (after training).
• Large volume paracentesis (as permitted).
• Communicate patient care activities to the physician (visit notes/test results).
• Collaborate with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
• Order appropriate medication, laboratory, and diagnostic procedures.
• Administer medications and injections.
• Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention.
• Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation.
• Provide monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.
• Perform a physical exam and records findings.

The Must Haves

• Registered Nursing license as well as degree level required by each state to obtain NP license.
• Graduate of an accredited program and board certified with prescriptive authority.
• Strong interpersonal skills are a must, knowledge of billing services is required, understands the various responsibilities physician/NP/Patient relationship.
• Successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program with certification by a national Nurse Practitioner certification board.
• Three (3) years professional nursing experience in a clinic or hospital setting.
