Job summary

Electronic Caregiver is seeking a Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide evidence-based GI care in outpatient settings. The NP will evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic GI diseases, in collaboration with gastroenterologists and the care team.

The role requires an NP license, MSN/DNP, and board certification (FNP/AGNP/ACNP), with DEA registration and at least 3 years of NP experience. Travel is expected to support procedures and clinic coverage.

Qualifications

Job description

The Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) responsible for providing comprehensive, evidence-based care to patients with gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic, and digestive health conditions. Working collaboratively with gastroenterologists and the interdisciplinary care team, the NP evaluates, diagnoses, treats, and manages acute and chronic gastrointestinal diseases in outpatient settings.

The Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner conducts patient assessments, develops treatment plans, orders and interprets diagnostic testing, prescribes medications, provides patient education, coordinates care, and supports procedural services. The position serves as a key clinical resource to promote quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and continuity of care.

Required Qualifications:

• Current unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the applicable state of practice.
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited program.
• Current national board certification as Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP), or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP).
• Current DEA registration and prescriptive authority.
• Minimum three (3) years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner or equivalent advanced practice training.
• Ability to independently assess, diagnose, and manage patients within scope of practice.
• Knowledge of gastrointestinal diseases, evidence-based treatment guidelines, and preventive screening recommendations.
• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and patient education skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Internal Medicine, or related specialty experience.
• Experience in outpatient specialty clinic settings.
• Experience supporting endoscopic procedures.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Experience with quality improvement and population health initiatives
