Job summary

Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join the Neurosurgery (Spine) inpatient team. The role focuses on coordinating care with spine specialists, patient education, and multidisciplinary rounds on the 9T unit to optimize communication.

Ideal candidates have an accredited nursing program, an active RN license, current BLS (ACLS preferred), and 3+ years of nursing experience, with prior inpatient neurosurgery experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program.
  • Active RN license in the practicing state.
  • Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of nursing experience preferred.
  • Prior inpatient Neurosurgery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with multiple physician teams regarding the care plan for each spine patient daily.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds on 9T to optimize teammate communication.
  • Facilitate communication with physician teams regarding patient or nursing questions/concerns.
  • Communicate with family members to ensure understanding of patient’s care.
  • Coordinate with social workers/case managers to assist with patient disposition.
  • Assist with scheduling of post op follow ups, wound checks and outpatient imaging.

Requirements

Position Details
  • Monday – Friday 7:00a – 3:30p
  • Carolinas Medical Center - Main, 9 Tower
What You’ll Do
  • Coordinate withmultiplephysician teamsregardingthe careplanfor each spine patient daily

Working knowledge of the components of quality and acute patient care needs. Maintains clinical expertise to effectively manage physical, emotional, psychosocial and spiritual needs of patients throughout the care continuum. Excellent analytical and interpersonal communication skills necessary to negotiate with families, patient, physicians, and third-party payers. Demonstrated ability to work well with physicians and other professionals in a direct and positive manner.
