Job summary

Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Neurosurgery Emergency Service inpatient team. The role emphasizes service excellence and adaptability within a high-acuity Neurosurgery setting.

Ideal candidates have inpatient Neurosurgery and critical care experience, with a minimum of 3 years of nursing background and a valid RN license. BLS is required; ACLS is preferred. Full-time hours and a comprehensive benefits package are offered.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program.
  • RN license in the state of practice.
  • Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of nursing experience preferred.
  • Prior inpatient Neurosurgery and critical care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Attend 7am E service sign-out to assist with daily coordination of patient care plans.
  • Attend daily neuro ICU multidisciplinary rounds with Neurosurgery provider.
  • Coordinate care plans with neurosurgery and trauma ICU teams.
  • Organize outpatient follow up with necessary imaging in clinic at appointment time.
  • Facilitate communication with patients and families for discharge follow-up.
  • Coordinate with navigator and social workers for expedited dispositions.

We’re Looking For

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Neurosurgery Emergency Service inpatient team. Ideal nursing candidates demonstrate a strong commitment to service excellence, nursing excellence, and adaptability.

Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Current BLS certification, ACLS preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of nursing experience preferred
  • Prior inpatient Neurosurgery and critical care experience preferred
Position Details
  • Monday – Friday 7:00a – 3:30p
  • Carolinas Medical Center - Main, Neurosurgical ICU
What You’ll Do
  • Attend 7am E service sign-out to assist with daily coordination of patient care plans
  • In conjunction with Neurosurgery provider, attend daily neuro ICU multidisciplinary rounds to help with neurosurgical aspects of patient care
  • Coordinate care plans with neurosurgery and trauma ICU team
  • Organize outpatient follow up with necessary imaging in clinic at the time of appointment. Facilitate communication with patients and families to help ensure appropriate post-discharge follow-up.
  • Coordinate with 9T navigator to facilitate communication if patients need transfer to NSICU
  • Coordinate with social workers to assist with expedited disposition opportunities
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Working knowledge of the components of quality and acute patient care needs.

Maintains clinical expertise to effectively manage physical, emotional, psychosocial and spiritual needs of patients throughout the care continuum.

Excellent analytical and interpersonal communication skills necessary to negotiate with families, patient, physicians, and third-party payers.

Demonstrated ability to work well with physicians and other professionals in a direct and positive manner.
