Job summary

Advocate Health, affiliated with Atrium Health, seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Neurosurgery Emergency Service inpatient team at Carolinas Medical Center – Main, Neurosurgical ICU. The role focuses on coordinating neurosurgical patient care plans and ensuring smooth transitions across care settings.

The ideal candidate has inpatient Neurosurgery and critical care experience, a nursing degree from an accredited program, and an active RN license.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program.
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state of practice.
  • Current BLS certification, ACLS preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of nursing experience preferred.
  • Prior inpatient Neurosurgery and critical care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Attend 7am service sign-out to assist with daily coordination of patient care plans.
  • Attend daily neuro ICU multidisciplinary rounds with Neurosurgery provider.
  • Coordinate care plans with neurosurgery and trauma ICU teams.
  • Organize outpatient follow-up with necessary imaging at the time of appointment.
  • Facilitate communication with patients and families for post-discharge follow-up.
  • Coordinate with navigator to assist transfers to NSICU and with social workers for expedited disposition.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Working knowledge of the components of quality and acute patient care needs.

Maintains clinical expertise to effectively manage physical, emotional, psychosocial and spiritual needs of patients throughout the care continuum.

Excellent analytical and interpersonal communication skills necessary to negotiate with families, patient, physicians, and third-party payers.

Demonstrated ability to work well with physicians and other professionals in a direct and positive manner.
