Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing is required.

  • Current California RN license is required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a related clinical nursing specialty preferred.
  • Experience in maternal-fetal medicine or care coordination is highly desirable.

About Valley Children's Maternal Fetal Center

At Valley Children's Maternal Fetal Center, we provide specialized care for mothers experiencing high-risk pregnancies and for unborn babies who may require advanced medical care before or after birth. Our maternal-fetal medicine specialists are experts in managing complex pregnancies, including those complicated by hypertension, diabetes, advanced maternal age, seizure disorders, bleeding, preterm labor and other maternal or fetal conditions.

As part of Valley Children's commitment to keeping exceptional care close to home, our Maternal Fetal Center brings together board-certified maternal-fetal medicine physicians and a multidisciplinary team of pediatric subspecialists to deliver comprehensive, coordinated care for mothers and babies throughout California's Central Valley.

Position Summary

The RN Navigator serves as a clinical expert, patient advocate and care coordinator for patients receiving services through the Maternal Fetal Center. Working collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses and the interdisciplinary healthcare team, the RN Navigator coordinates and oversees patient care throughout the pregnancy journey, ensuring timely access to services, continuity of care and exceptional patient outcomes.

This role serves as the primary clinical resource for patients and families, providing education, guidance and support while helping them navigate complex healthcare systems and treatment plans. The RN Navigator uses advanced clinical judgment and specialized knowledge in maternal-fetal medicine to identify patient needs, coordinate care across multiple specialties and healthcare settings, and facilitate communication among providers, patients and families.

The RN Navigator also collaborates across departments and with community providers to ensure seamless transitions of care, improve the patient experience and support high-quality clinical outcomes.

This position practices within the scope of the California Nursing Practice Act, organizational policies and procedures, and under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer.

Qualifications
Education
  • Associate Degree in Nursing required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Licensure
  • Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license required
Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a related clinical nursing specialty preferred
  • Experience in maternal-fetal medicine, obstetrics, women's health or care coordination is highly desirable
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of nursing principles, evidence-based clinical practice and healthcare systems
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication, patient education and care coordination abilities
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across multiple departments and healthcare organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to advocate for patients and families while navigating complex healthcare needs
