Job summary

Select Medical is seeking a Nurse Manager-RN for SSH-Madison, a critical illness recovery hospital, to lead designated nursing units on a 24/7 basis and uphold high-quality patient care. You will guide staffing, coordinate schedules, manage budgeted resources and foster staff development, working closely with the CNO and medical colleagues to optimize outcomes.

Minimum requirements include an active RN license, at least 3 years of leadership and 1 year of management experience, BLS

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in the state.
• Minimum 3 years of clinical practice with leadership.
• Minimum 1 year of prior management experience.
• BLS certification required by start date.
• ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
• BSN is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain efficient functioning of designated nursing units on a 24/7 basis.
• Guide, plan and direct hospital activities with ongoing quality assessment.
• Assess patient care needs and coordinate nursing staff assignments to meet outcomes.
• Coordinate schedules for nursing staff within the area of responsibility.
• Maintain communication with medical staff and other hospital departments.
• Participate in budget formulation and cost containment for the area.
• Ensure effective utilization of manpower, equipment and supplies.
• Assess the need for staff education and clinical development programs.
• Assume administrative responsibilities on the unit during designated shifts.
• Supervise overall nursing care and provide staff evaluations at intervals.

Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), you are responsible for maintaining the efficient functioning of designated nursing units on a twenty-four (24) hour basis.

• Guiding, planning and directing hospital activities with ongoing assessment of the quality and efficiency of these activities.
• Assessing patient care needs and coordinating the appropriate assignment of nursing staff in order to facilitate patient attainment of expected outcomes.
• Coordinating schedules for nursing staff assigned to the area of responsibility.
• Assisting with establishing and maintaining communication channels with medical staff and other departments within the hospital.
• Participating in budgetary formulation and cost containment for areas of responsibility.
• Maintaining effective utilization of manpower, equipment and supplies.
• Assessing the need for and assisting in implementation of staff education and clinical development programs.
• Assuming all administrative responsibilities on the unit on designated shifts.
• Supervising the overall nursing care performance, maintaining quality patient care and providing staff assessments with written evaluations at designated intervals.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

• Requires current RN licensure.
• At least 3 years of clinical practice experience with an emphasis on leadership.
• 1 year of previous management experience.
• Possess a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by start date.
• ACLS required within 6 months of hire.

Preferred qualificationsthat will make you successful:

• Bachelor's of Science in Nursing preferred.
