South Texas Health System Edinburg seeks a Nurse Manager to support the Nursing Director in guiding and overseeing nursing and clinical staff within the department to ensure high-quality patient care.

The role emphasizes staff scheduling, payroll, orientation, compliance with the Code of Conduct, and participation in performance improvement, with weekday coverage and occasional after-hours support as needed.

Qualifications

• 2 years RN experience in same or similar unit(s) covered by position required.
• 1-3 years progressive supervisory experience required.
• Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.
• Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Texas, or part of a compact state license, or has a valid temporary RN license for the State of Texas while waiting to receive the permanent license.
• Effective July 1, 2018 all new hires: must have a bachelor’s degree in Nursing (or Bachelor’s in related field) on hire.
• Effective July 1, 2018 all current Managers will be enrolled in a BSN program with degree completion no later than July 1, 2020; internal promotions will enroll into BSN program within 6 months of transition to Manager role.

Responsibilities

• Assist Nursing Director to oversee nursing and clinical staff.
• Interact with hospital staff, patients, families, visitors, and ancillary departments regarding patient care and conflicts, and communicate resolutions to the Director.
• Maintain performance skills of employees, staff schedules, payroll, and orientation; assist with performance improvement activities.
• Routinely works weekdays, with potential support to staff at other times as necessary.
