Qualifications

Job Summary and Qualifications

  • The Nurse Manager oversees all functions of the Mother/Baby Care Unit, supporting the mission, vision, and goals of the facility.
  • Must be an RN, capable of critical thinking within the scope of the RN Practice Act.
  • Responsible for patient safety in postpartum and newborn care environments.
  • Utilizes effective communication and information management skills daily.
  • Builds on ANA Standards of Care and Professional Practice.
  • Acts as a liaison, fostering partnerships with patients and families.
  • Supports continuity and coordination of care across settings.
  • Maintains high-quality, age and developmentally appropriate care for infants through adults.
  • Develops women’s health initiatives and process improvements.
  • Collaborates with healthcare team members.
  • Manages personnel, payroll, budgets, business plans, and physician relationships.
  • Serves as a liaison with hospital, community, and other institutions.
  • Organizes and supervises human and material resources.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years management experience, including personnel, payroll, supervisory roles, and physician relations, preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current RN license in Texas or a compact state.
  • Current BLS provider card from AHA or ARC.
  • NRP certification required.
