Job summary

HSHS in Springfield, IL seeks an Assistant Manager-Nursing for the Women and Infants unit to oversee nursing functions, supervise staff, and drive patient care excellence across shifts.

The role requires RN licensure, BSN preferred, 2 years RN experience in acute care, and 2 years charge nurse experience preferred. BLS is required; ACLS may be required where necessary. Night shifts include two 12-hour charge nurse shifts and two 8-hour administrative days.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited and approved school of nursing accepted for licensure in the state of practice is required.
• Bachelor's of science in nursing is preferred.
• 2 years staff nurse (RN) in an acute setting is required.
• 2 years experience in a charge nurse, lead nurse, or related position is preferred.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in state of practice is required. Wisconsin: RNs may practice with a valid multi-state RN license as outlined in the Nurse Licensure Compact rules.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required where necessary.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of Nursing leadership, the Assistant Manager-Nursing assists in the oversight of functional area(s) of the unit and/or department including: patient care; hiring; transferring; performance improvement; assigning duties; and rewards.
• Develops general workflows for department/unit and prepares timely operational reports.
• Develops and administers proper protocols for department and/or unit.
• Assists in the direct supervision of unit and staff.
• Is a champion for patient care.
• Collaborates with other care team providers to assure team provides excellence in patient care.
