Job summary

CoxHealth is seeking a Nursing Leader to oversee a hospital department, coordinating care, guiding regulatory compliance, and driving quality and patient safety initiatives. The role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and excellent communication across multidisciplinary teams.

The incumbent will manage operational processes, develop long-term plans, and monitor performance metrics to support CoxHealth's mission and values in a large regional system.

Qualifications

• Active Nursing License in Missouri
• 3-5 years of hospital nursing management or education experience
• Completion of department-specific certifications within designated time frame

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage operational, regulatory, and business processes across the department.
• Lead the department in facilitating change, innovation, and self-development to achieve excellence in operations, patient safety, and quality.
• Coordinate and direct care delivered by the team; ensure effective communication and problem-solving across shifts.

Job Description

Utilizes the nursing process to effectively assess the needs of patients; identify a plan of care; and implement and evaluate the care given. Coordinates and directs care given by other team members. Addresses system issues to facilitate the provision of quality efficient care. The incumbent provides oversight and management of operational, regulatory, and business processes across the department. The position leads the department in facilitating change, fostering innovation and self-development to achieve excellence in operations, patient safety and quality. Excellent communication skills, leadership ability, time management, and problem solving skills required.

Education

• Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Preferred: Master’s degree in Nursing or healthcare-related field

Experience

• Required: 3-5 years of previous hospital experience, nursing management experience, or nursing education experience.

Skills

• Represents the departments on several process improvement, standardization, and regulatory committees
• Operates strategic plan by setting and monitoring key performance measures and goals
• Determines scope of care or service in relation to values, mission, and strategic plan of the institution
• Assist with developing their departments’ long term plans.
• Working knowledge in human relations, customer service, inventory management, and budget management
• Ability to work with multiple people while meeting numerous requests and deadlines.
• Goal oriented with initiative and potentials for self-development.
• Maintains organizational and priority setting skills.
• Delegates appropriately to other team members

Licensure/Certification/Registration

• Required: Nursing License active in the state of Missouri
• Required: Must complete department specific certifications within the designated time frame
