Job summary

OHSU seeks a Nurse Manager to provide operational, human resources, quality, and financial leadership for one or more inpatient or ambulatory units. The role ensures safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care in line with organizational priorities.

Essential duties include strategic planning, daily operations, budgeting, staff development, and performance improvement, with leadership for staff engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• BSN required.
• Two (2) years of clinical nursing experience in a related specialty.
• One (1) year of recent leadership experience (e.g., charge nurse, preceptor, supervisor, or equivalent).
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex operations in a large, matrixed healthcare environment.
• Unencumbered Oregon RN license required.
• BLS for healthcare providers required.
• Professional certification in nursing leadership (e.g., NE-BC, CNML) required within 2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Strategic & Program Planning — develop and execute goals aligned with nursing priorities and engage staff in governance and improvement initiatives.
• Operational Leadership — oversee daily operations across units, ensure patient care delivery and flow, promote collaboration and accountability.
• Financial & Resource Management — manage operating budgets, monitor productivity and resources, plan staffing and capital needs.
• Human Resources & Staff Development — recruit, hire, evaluate, develop staff, coach emerging leaders, support succession planning.
• Quality, Safety & Performance Improvement — implement and evaluate quality and safety initiatives using data to drive improvements.
• Professional Practice & Collaboration — model ethical nursing practice and collaborate across disciplines to advance care and operations.
