Job summary

The MercyOne Des Moines operating unit seeks a full-time Nursing Manager to lead day-to-day department operations, uphold clinical practice standards, and foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement to deliver high-quality patient care and exceptional patient experiences.

This leadership role blends clinical expertise with strategic direction—support staff growth, champion safety and quality, and ensure alignment with MercyOne’s Mission, Vision, and Values while guiding teams

Qualifications

• BSN required, or actively pursuing with completion expected within 3 years of hire.
• Minimum 5 years nursing experience, including at least 3 years in nursing leadership.
• Current Iowa RN license; Illinois license if practicing there.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, Mandatory Reporter.

Responsibilities

• Oversee clinical practice standards and ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
• Provide accessible leadership—guidance, problem solving, and support for the care team.
• Maintain visibility through regular rounds with staff, patients, families, and providers.
• Stay current with emerging clinical trends, technologies, and best practices.
• Monitor staffing levels to balance exceptional care with financial responsibility.
• Ensure operations reflect current coding, billing, and reimbursement expectations.
• Develop and implement a CQI plan; respond to safety events and incidents.
• Promote a culture of patient safety and accountability.
