Job description

At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, a proud member of Trinity Health Of New England, we are seeking an experienced and compassionate Nurse Manager for our Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) to lead a highly specialized, high‑acuity critical care team.

About the Role

As the CICU Nurse Manager, you will play a key leadership role in advancing patient outcomes, staff engagement, and interdisciplinary collaboration in alignment with Trinity Health’s Mission and Core Values of dignity, excellence, justice, and stewardship. You will oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the CICU while fostering a culture of accountability, professional growth, and compassionate care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical and operational leadership for a high‑acuity Cardiac Intensive Care Unit
  • Lead, mentor, and engage a highly skilled team of critical care nurses and support staff
  • Oversee staffing, patient flow, and resource management to support safe, high‑quality care
  • Collaborate closely with cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, intensivists, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary partners
  • Drive quality improvement, patient safety, and performance excellence initiatives
  • Support nurse development, retention, and succession planning
  • Ensure alignment with Saint Francis Hospital and Trinity Health Of New England goals and standards
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – required
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) - strongly preferred
  • Current Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive nursing leadership or management experience in a Cardiac ICU, CICU, CVICU, or critical care environment
  • Current BLS/CPR certification (AHA or Red Cross)
