NURSE MANAGER
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Nurse Manager serves a vital role in advancing Amnion’s life-affirming mission. This position provides support and care to clients and maintains professional standards of care following the ANA Code of Ethics. Under the general supervision of the Medical Director, the Nurse Manager is responsible for immediate supervision of a wide variety of functions, planning and performing direct and indirect nursing interventions, and is responsible for supervising, organizing, planning, assessing and monitoring all medical services provided by Amnion. The Nurse Manager also works in conjunction with physicians, nurses, and lay counselors to ensure that clients are receiving the best medical, nursing and psychosocial care possible. This position reports to Amnion’s Executive Director.

- Holds a current Registered Nurse’s license in good standing with the PA State Medical Board.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Management
- Develops, maintains, reviews and updates clinic policies and procedures.
- Maintains a working knowledge of nursing methods and practices in relation to the prevention and treatment of disease, safety and infection control, clinical systems, supplies and equipment.
- Assures compliance with infection control guidelines.
Nursing Care
- Organizes, directs, supervises and evaluates medical professional personnel. Oversees nursing services in the center.
- Provides nursing care: assesses client needs and makes nursing judgments that reflect safe nursing practices.
- Maintains accurate records, care-plans and follow through on physician’s orders.
- Provides education for patient and family to develop an understanding of their health condition.
- Oversees and performs pregnancy tests and verifications, ultrasound scans and STD testing and treatment. (Training in ultrasound proficiency will be provided.)
- Assures timely review by physician and client follow-up of ultrasound scans.
- Works in partnership with the PA Health Department to provide STD tests, lab results & treatment.
Staff Development
- Recruits qualified medical team volunteers to meet the center(s)’ needs.
- Oversees training and orientation of medical volunteers.
- Participates in establishing and conducting in-service staff meetings.
- Along with Medical Director, evaluates center medical services, policies, and protocols.
Public Relations
- Represents Amnion in the community as delegated by the Executive Director. Attends conferences that offer professional training and information pertinent to Amnion’s practices.
- Participates in Amnion fundraising events.
Personal Development
- Maintains professional license.
- Increases knowledge of management, obstetrical and gynecological care and women’s health issues.
- Participates in training for ultrasound proficiency provided by Amnion as part of initial training.
POSITION PARAMETERS
- TIME COMMITMENT: 30-40 hours per week or as agreed.
- TRAVEL: May be required to work in both Norristown or Drexel Hill locations as needed.
- ON-CALL: On a rotating schedule to take calls/texts on “lead line” meant to identify abortion minded or vulnerable women.
