Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission is seeking a Nursing Facilities Nurse Surveyor (Nurse III) in Mount Pleasant, TX. The role inspects and investigates long-term care facilities to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, with travel across the region and state.

The position requires an RN license (TX or reciprocal) and SMQT within one year. Competitive benefits and a regular travel schedule are offered.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed as a registered nurse in Texas or via reciprocity.
• Complete Nurse Surveyor Minimum Qualification Training (SMQT) within one year of hire.
• Prefer two years of experience in a health care setting as an RN.
• Experience in a Long-term Care Regulatory program is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site licensure inspections, complaint and incident investigations, and annual surveys.
• Determine compliance with state and federal health and safety regulations.
• Communicate clearly with staff and stakeholders; prepare detailed written reports.
• Revisit facilities to verify correction of deficiencies and perform QA reviews.
• Testify at hearings or court proceedings when required; provide guidance to teams.
