The Kalamazoo County Jail seeks registered nurses to provide medical and nursing services within a 24-hour secure facility. Nurses follow the nursing process, collaborate with mental health providers, contracted physicians, and local hospitals to ensure continuity of care and patient-centered treatment in line with state jail standards.
Duties include assessing and treating medical concerns, administering medications, performing MDOC-required physicals, and maintaining secure medication
The purpose of these positions is to provide medical and nursing services to people who are resident within the Kalamazoo County Jail, a 24 hour, physically secured criminal justice facility. Nursing care is delivered using the established nursing process, including assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, of applicable state jail standards, and all relevant laws, regulations, and under the direction of the Sheriff’s Office contracted physician. This position collaborates with interdisciplinary partners, including mental health providers, contracted physicians, local hospitals, and pharmacies, to ensure continuity of care, maintain security and safety standards, and deliver effective, patient-centered treatment in accordance with accepted best practices..
