Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking a Nurse Helper I to support the nursing staff in patient care at St Josephs Main and Children’s campuses. This role reports to the RN and focuses on assisting with routine patient care while avoiding contact with body fluids and devices containing fluids.

The position requires BLS certification within 30 days of hire, completion of Nurse Helper training prior to orientation, and a high school graduate or GED equivalency. Weekend shifts are occasional.

Qualifications

• Completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Standard WELLE training is required.
• Must complete Nurse Helper training class prior to orientation on the nursing unit.

Responsibilities

• Assist the nursing staff in the delivery of patient care under RN supervision.
• Assist with patient care without exposure to body fluids or devices containing body fluids.

Summary:
Assist the nursing staff in the delivery of patient care according to BayCare role specific responsibilities of a Nurse Helper I. Directed by the RN. Assist with patient care without encountering any body fluids (i.e., blood, urine, stool, saliva, dirty linens, emesis, etc.) or any devices that contain body fluids (such as but not limited to, urinary catheters, nasogastric tubes, drains, used basins, etc.).
