Job summary

BayCare Health System is seeking a Nurse Helper I to assist nursing staff in delivering patient care under the supervision of an RN. You will help with routine tasks and patient assistance during shifts from 10:45am to 9:15pm at the South Florida Baptist Hospital facility in Tampa Bay’s BayCare network.

Essential qualifications include completion of BLS within 30 days of hire, Standard WELLE training, and Nurse Helper training before orientation. High school diploma or GED is preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Standard WELLE training is required.
• Nurse Helper training class prior to orientation on the nursing unit.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff in the delivery of patient care under RN supervision.
• Assist with patient care while avoiding exposure to body fluids and devices containing them.
• Support with non-clinical tasks as needed.

Summary

Assist the nursing staff in the delivery of patient care according to BayCare role specific responsibilities of a Nurse Helper I. Directed by the RN. Assist with patient care without encountering any body fluids (i.e., blood, urine, stool, saliva, dirty linens, emesis, etc.) or any devices that contain body fluids (such as but not limited to, urinary catheters, nasogastric tubes, drains, used basins, etc.).
