Job summary

Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC, invites you to join as a Nurse Extern. You’ll be part of the nursing team, gaining hands-on experience and exploring the full scope of the Registered Nurse role while delivering safe, compassionate care as you progress through your nursing program.

You’ll support with ADLs, vital signs, wound care, documentation, and patient education, while advancing your clinical skills under supervision in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support within 30 days of start date.
• CNA certification.
• Associate or Bachelor degree in nursing.
• Enrollment in accredited nursing program.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential care for patients by assisting with ADLs, checking vitals, mobility, and comfort.
• Perform basic nursing tasks as experience grows (wound care, catheter care, specimen collection).
• Document care accurately and communicate updates with the nursing team.
• Help patients and families understand care plans and health recovery.
• Maintain infection prevention, equipment, and organized patient areas.
• Engage in learning opportunities and career development with supervisor/preceptor.
