Job summary

Mission Hospital is seeking a Nurse Extern to gain hands-on experience within the nursing team. You will contribute to safe, compassionate care and build confidence to take on more advanced responsibilities as you progress through your nursing program.

You will assist with ADLs, vital signs, patient comfort, and documentation while learning from your preceptor and fellow nurses. This role is PRN/part-time and on-site at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC.

Qualifications

• BCLS required within 30 days of start date.
• Currently enrolled and in good standing in an accredited nursing program.
• NC (CNA) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide essential nursing care including ADLs and comfort measures.
• Monitor vital signs and assist with mobility and hygiene.
• Document care and communicate updates to the nursing team.
• Help patients and families understand care plans and recovery steps.
• Maintain clean and safe patient areas following infection prevention practices.
• Engage in learning opportunities and collaborate with supervisor to develop career plan.
