Presbyterian Santa Fe Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Extern for a part-time position in Santa Fe, NM. The role supports RNs with patient care, vital signs, and medication administration while you complete nursing education.

The program offers development opportunities, tuition reimbursement, and access to EPIC electronic health records. A qualifying high school diploma and active nursing enrollment are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be currently enrolled in a State approved Program of Nursing.
• Must be eligible for graduation within 1 year of an ADN program, or within 18 months of the BSN program, or have 1 year health care experience if outside those windows.
• BLS certification required; Santa Fe resident preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist registered nurses (RNs) with patient care activities, including vital signs monitoring, administering medications, and wound care.
• Provide basic patient care, such as bathing, feeding, and assisting with mobility.
• Observe and document patient conditions and report any changes to the supervising RN.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient care.
