Job summary

Mission Hospital in Asheville is seeking a Nurse Extern PRN to join our nursing team and gain hands-on experience while assisting with essential care under supervision.

You'll learn to perform RN tasks safely, document care, and communicate with the team to coordinate patient progress. You must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program, have CNA certification, and obtain BLS within 30 days of employment.

Qualifications

• BLS must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
• CNA certification is required or in progress as part of training.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ADLs, monitor vital signs and promote patient comfort.
• Support basic nursing tasks and wound/catheter care as competency grows.
• Document care and communicate updates to the nursing team.
• Guide patients and families on care plans and recovery steps.
• Maintain clean, safe patient areas following infection prevention guidelines.
