Job summary

Medical City Weatherford is seeking a Nurse Extern PRN Float Pool to join the nursing team and gain hands-on experience in the Registered Nurse role while pursuing an ADN or BSN.

You will assist with ADLs, vital signs, wound and catheter care, and patient education, all while following safety and infection prevention protocols. This position supports growth through mentorship and scheduled learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• BCLS must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
• Enrolled in an accredited ADN or BSN program.
• Completed Foundations, Fundamentals, or Med Surg I.
• Professional communication skills.
• Scheduling requires one 12-hour shift per week or 4–12 hour shifts per month.

Responsibilities

• Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs, checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene.
• Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience.
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinated.
• Helping patients and families understand their care plans and guidance for health and recovery.
• Keeping patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices and maintaining an organized environment.
• Engaging in learning opportunities and building your personal career development plan with your supervisor.
