Job summary

Medical City Denton, part of HCA Healthcare, offers a Nurse Extern PRN Float Pool opportunity for hands-on nursing experience while you progress through your program. You will assist with essential care, monitor patients, and learn side-by-side with experienced nurses in a supportive setting.

You will document care, communicate updates, support families in understanding plans, and participate in growth opportunities with your supervisor to build your nursing career within a leading healthcare

Qualifications

• BLS within 30 days of employment start date.
• Enrolled in an accredited ADN or BSN program.
• Completed Foundations, Fundamentals, or Med Surg I.
• Professional communication skills.
• Meet scheduling requirements – one 12 hour shift per week or 4 - 12 hour shifts per month.

Responsibilities

• Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs, checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene
• Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and grow in your competency
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinated
• Helping patients and families understand their care plans and offering guidance for their health and recovery
• Keeping patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment
• Championing your growth and enhancing patient care by engaging in learning opportunities, sharing ideas to improve care, and partnering with your supervisor or preceptor to build your personal career development plan
